These reports describe ensuing massacres, forced displacement, sexual violence, and mass targeting based on ethnic identity \u2014 a dangerous escalation in the systematic violence that has plagued Sudan for more than two years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Preliminary findings by the <strong>UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights<\/strong>, the <strong>International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH)<\/strong>, and the <strong>African Centre for Justice and Peace Studies (ACJPS)<\/strong> indicate a campaign of grave abuses, including <strong>summary executions of civilians<\/strong>, <strong>home raids<\/strong>, and <strong>deliberate denial of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid<\/strong> \u2014 acts amounting to <strong>crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the absence of effective and independent mechanisms for investigation and accountability, the suffering of victims intensifies and <strong>impunity becomes entrenched<\/strong>, posing a direct threat to justice and stability in Sudan and the wider region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Syrian civil-society organizations affirm that what is taking place in Sudan today goes beyond an armed conflict between rival forces. It exposes a deeply rooted pattern of <strong>identity-based and discriminatory violence<\/strong>, in which crimes are being committed in an organized and systematic manner, in <strong>flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the principles of human dignity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The undersigned organizations warn that the <strong>persistence of impunity in Sudan and other conflict zones<\/strong> is a direct consequence of the international community\u2019s failure to uphold its legal and moral obligations to protect civilians and prevent the recurrence of mass atrocities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Accordingly, the undersigned organizations call on:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>The UN Security Council and the African Union<\/strong> to convene an emergency session, impose a <strong>comprehensive ceasefire<\/strong>, and ensure the <strong>protection of civilians<\/strong> in Darfur and all conflict-affected regions of Sudan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>States Parties to the Rome Statute and the international community<\/strong> to activate international accountability by supporting the <strong>ICC investigations<\/strong> into crimes committed in Darfur and extending their scope to include recent atrocities in <strong>El-Fasher<\/strong> and <strong>Bara<\/strong>, ensuring that no perpetrator escapes justice.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Security Council and UN Member States<\/strong> to impose <strong>targeted sanctions<\/strong> on the military and political leadership of the RSF and on any actors supplying or financing them, including states or entities violating the <strong>UN arms embargo<\/strong> on Sudan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All parties to the conflict<\/strong> to comply with <strong>international humanitarian and human-rights law<\/strong>, immediately cease attacks on civilians, guarantee <strong>safe humanitarian corridors<\/strong> for evacuation and relief, and remove any obstacles preventing aid delivery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>International and regional mechanisms<\/strong>, especially those under the UN and African Union, to strengthen and facilitate <strong>independent documentation of crimes in Sudan<\/strong> and ensure unrestricted access to affected areas across the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Signatory Organizations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Adalaty Organization<\/li>\n<li>AFOMAS -Association of Families of Missing Asylum Seekers<\/li>\n<li>Amal Healing and Advocacy Center<\/li>\n<li>Association of Victims of Chemical Weapons<\/li>\n<li>Caesar Families Association<\/li>\n<li>Detainees&#8217; Voice<\/li>\n<li>Families for Freedom<\/li>\n<li>Families for Truth and Justice<\/li>\n<li>Human Rights Organization in Syria &#8211; MAF<\/li>\n<li>Lamsat Ward<\/li>\n<li>Massar Families Association<\/li>\n<li>Musawa Women Studies Center<\/li>\n<li>SEEN for Civil Peace<\/li>\n<li>Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM)<\/li>\n<li>Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR)<\/li>\n<li>Syrian Women&#8217;s Network<\/li>\n<li>Syrians for Truth and Justice<\/li>\n<li>The Syria Campaign<\/li>\n<li>Transformative Pathways<\/li>\n<li>Truth and Justice Charter<\/li>\n<li>Urnammu &#8211; for Justice and Human Rights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paris \u2013 The undersigned Syrian organizations express their deep concern over recent human-rights and United Nations reports documenting widespread crimes against civilians in Sudan, particularly following the fall of El-Fasher&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":15,"featured_media":28778,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"link","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[33,1428,88,1831,1526,73],"class_list":["post-28789","post","type-post","status-publish","format-link","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-press-releases","tag-Crims-Against-Humanity","tag-human-rights-violations","tag-International-Criminal-Court---ICC","tag-justice-2","tag-law","tag-UN-Security-Council","post_format-post-format-link"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
